Quetzaltenango city is located to 200 km west Guatemala's capital. This city it's also known as Xela or Xelajú, that in language K'iche (X'ela or X'elaju'j) means "under ten ideas or knowledge".

Monument General Justo Rufino Barrios

Quetzaltenango maintains the commitment to culture and traditions in a deserved moment made him known as the "Cradle of Culture" Proof of this is the welcome Xela gives its visitors with an iconic monument in major revenue to the city.

In the center is the Catholic church of colonial style and the brotherhood of San Simon.

Espíritu Santo Cathedral

What most impresses me is that the women of this region wear colorful and flashy costumes that they themselves produce.
